George Washington Asks Candidates to “Step It Up” on Climate Change
October 2nd, 2007 by Carbon Coalition
Anyone who watched the CNN YouTube debate in July must remember the famous snowman that asked a question about global warming. Even though the snowman was criticized as silly by some, his question and the issue of global warming remain serious.
That’s why I wasn’t surprised to see Frosty show up again at the most recent Democratic debate last week at Dartmouth. While we can’t be sure if this was the same snowman (or perhaps a distant relative) we do know that he was there for the same reason: to call on our national leaders to do something about climate change.
Frosty brought along a friend this time, a former president by the name of George Washington. George expressed his concern for Frosty and asked the presidential candidates to show leadership on global warming. Check out this footage from the duo.
Both George and Frosty were part of a group called “Step It Up” that is asking Americans from coast to coast to rally for leadership on global warming. On November 3rd, communities will come together and ask their politicians to join in as part of the effort to see who rises to the occasion and who has a real plan to seriously address the issue. Get info on a rally near you.
Since not everyone is a fan of snowmen asking questions of presidential candidates, check out this video from the National Wildlife Federation of real people from all over the country who are very concerned about how climate change is impacting the environment and wildlife. They are also issuing a call to their elected officials and asking for action to combat global warming.
